Thajské ovoce, zelenina a bylinky
Annona reticulata / bullock’s heart
- Fruit
- heart-shaped to spherical/ovoid compound fruit, about 5–16 cm in Flora of Thailand; surface areoles are flat and separated by ridges, giving a reticulate appearance
- Ripe colour
- reddish brown to purplish when ripe
- Consumer identity
- Thai น้อยโหน่ง / regional aliases in Flora of Thailand = Annona reticulata L.
Jedlá část: ripe fleshy part of fruit / pulp
Běžně se nejí: seeds are not promoted as food; Thai FDA food listing specifies the fleshy part of the fruit, leaves/bark/root medicinal uses are outside this consumer-food profile
Jak chutná
- Chuť
- ripe flesh is sweet to mildly acidic in published Annona/custard-apple sensory literature; sweetness and aroma can vary between accessions
- Textura
- soft custard-like flesh after ripening; Annona fruits soften rapidly after harvest
Jak se jí a připravuje
Choose an exact A. reticulata fruit approaching its documented reddish-brown to purplish ripe colour and allow it to soften naturally. Wash, open the fruit and eat only the soft pulp while discarding the seeds. Because Annona fruits soften rapidly after harvest, handle gently and use ripe fruit promptly.
Použití v kuchyni
- fresh ripe fruit/pulp
Kde koupit
- Guidance
- น้อยโหน่ง is a cultivated but comparatively uncommon fruit. During the February–March fruiting reference, ask local fresh markets, community markets or growers for exact น้อยโหน่ง / Annona reticulata rather than assuming availability in chain supermarkets. Flora of Thailand documents cultivation almost throughout Thailand; no live retailer stock or current price is claimed.
Skladování
- Guidance
- A peer-reviewed Annona postharvest review that explicitly includes bullock’s heart reports rapid softening after harvest, climacteric ripening and chilling sensitivity. Keep unripe fruit at suitable room conditions to ripen, protect from bruising, and use ripe fruit promptly; no universal household storage-day count is published here.
Bezpečnost
- Thai FDA positive list identifies Annona reticulata / น้อยโหน่ง and the fleshy part of the fruit as the food portion with no specific warning in that listing.
- Seeds are excluded from normal food guidance; medicinal uses of leaves, bark, roots or unripe fruit are not converted into consumer recommendations.
- Use sound ripe fruit and normal food hygiene.
