Guidance
Thai public-sector sources describe bilimbi as available through local/community markets and document processed forms such as dried/candied bilimbi and bilimbi juice through community/Farm Outlet channels. Fresh stock is local and variable.

Skladování

Guidance
Bilimbi is perishable and softens during ripening. An exact-species cold-storage experiment tested green and yellow fruit at 10 ± 1 °C and 95% RH in PVC-wrapped trays and reported marketable life up to 9 days under those experimental conditions. At home, keep fruit cool and use promptly rather than treating 9 days as a guarantee.

Bezpečnost

  • Bilimbi is an edible food ingredient, but the fruit is high in oxalate/oxalic acid.
  • Case reports and reviews document acute oxalate nephropathy after large/concentrated bilimbi juice intake, including in people without known prior kidney disease; risk is especially concerning with kidney impairment.
