Výslovnost: editorial_pending_native_review Anglicky: Java plum / jambolan Botanicky: Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels

หว้า / Java plum / jambolan (Syzygium cumini) je tmavě fialové až černé thajské ovoce s velmi šťavnatou dužinou a výrazně nakyslou až svíravou chutí. V Thajsku se vyskytuje napříč regiony, v přírodě i v pěstování; zralé plody se jedí čerstvé a používají se také do nápojů a místních zpracovaných výrobků.

Jak chutná

Chuť
ripe fruit is distinctly sour with an astringent/tannic edge

  • fresh ripe fruit
  • fruit beverages/juice
  • community processed foods and desserts

Royal Forest Department material gives flowering around March–April and fruiting around June–July. A separate Amnat Charoen government locality note describes flowering/fruiting roughly December–June, so locality and conditions can shift the window.

Kde koupit

Guidance
Fresh หว้า is best treated as a short-season, local-market/backyard fruit rather than guaranteed supermarket stock; check local fruit/community markets around the local fruiting window. Current Community Development Department material from Huai Rat, Buriram documents community food products made from ลูกหว้า, while Thai public science infrastructure also documents juice processing from java plum raw material.

Bezpečnost

  • Thai forestry/flora sources explicitly identify the ripe fruit as edible.
  • Use clean, sound ripe fruit and avoid spoiled/fermenting berries.
  • Seed, bark, leaves and medicinal extracts are not recommended here as food treatments; medicinal efficacy claims are excluded.
